Gets A Spot At DC United Academy
Las Vegas local, Hayden Canizalez, has secured a spot with MLS's DC United U14 Academy in Washington, DC.
DC United Academy is a member of U.S. Soccer Development Academy. The Development Academy is "a partnership between U.S. Soccer and the top youth clubs around the country to provide the best youth players in the U.S. with an every day environment designed to produce the next generation of National Team players."
As a team member of the U14 squad, Hayden Canizalez will compete in US Club Soccer North East Pre-Academy League starting the Fall 2012. "I'm very excited and thankful for the opportunity," said Canizalez. "I will be able to compete with high level players against National Premier Leagues such as New York Red Bulls, NJ PDA, and Baltimore Bays Chelsea."
In addition, he will have the opportunity to compete to play in international games. Hayden has a commitment in June to tryout for several Division de Honor (Division 1) in Barcelona, Spain to compete in the Catalonian Football Federation region. He will decide where he will go next fall depending on the results of his tryouts in Barcelona. "I feel fortunate to be able to have these tryouts and the opportunity to choose between two great tracks for development" said Hayden. "If I go Barcelona, I will have the opportunity to compete against the likes of FC Barcelona, RCD Espanyol, and L'Hospitalet. If I stay in the U.S., I will be part of one of the best MLS institutions and be able to compete for amazing programs such as the U.S. Soccer Federation and US Club Soccer’s id2 Program. My heart in in DC since I lived in Maryland before; it feels like home to me. But I have trained in competed in Barcelona too; I love there as well."
Hayden is a student at Universal FC and Soccer School and plays in their U14 squad.
Universal FC & Soccer School competes in the Nevada South Youth Soccer League, and offers opportunities to train and compete in Europe to any high performing player interested in development. Hayden is also a member of the 2011 Region IV '98 Champion ODP Team, and a current member of the '98 ODP Nevada Team.
